Medicare Advantage Plans
These are managed care plans: HMO’s, PPO’s, etc. These plans include Part D – drug coverage in their premiums. With these plans, you choose a doctor and facility from the carrier’s broad network to coordinate your care. These plans offer all the benefits of Original Medicare, plus some added features and benefits.

Medicare Supplement Plans (MediGap)
These plans help cover some of the costs not covered by Medicare Parts A & B, such as deductibles and coinsurance, so you have a more predictable cost. You can keep the same doctors. You are still in the Medicare program and still have your Medicare rights and protections. These plans are NOT managed care.

Medicare Part D Drug Plans
A Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP) may help lower your prescription costs. Original Medicare does NOT offer prescription drug coverage and must be obtained via private health insurance companies. Each plan provides coverage for a specific drug list (covered formulary list). Choose your plan carefully to make sure it covers your medications.
